Zean Dunbar

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Zean Dunbar. She was a mother, friend, caretaker, and deeply expressive and loving person. Born in Liberia, she immigrated to the United States and spent most of her life in Minnesota, where she built lasting relationships with family and friends.

Zean was the proud mother of Alpha Greene (Heather), Merkle Greene (Ashley), and Tinesee Greene, and a loving grandmother. Her family, cousins, and close friends were at the center of her life, and she cherished the time she spent with the people she loved.

Zean dedicated much of her life to caring for others, working in hospitals and residential home care. She worked hard to build a life in a new country and raise her children, often taking double shifts and working late nights. She was extraordinarily generous, always willing to help someone in need, whether through financial support, a meal, or simply being there to listen.

A free spirit and fully expressive person, Zean spoke plainly and honestly, even when conversations were difficult, always from a place of love and care. She was a phenomenal listener and a soft place to land. When those she loved were worried or overwhelmed, she would remind them, “This too shall pass,” and not to stress because everything would be okay.

Zean had a sense of adventure and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and returning to Liberia. Above all, she loved talking, spending quality time with her people, and caring for others.

It is difficult to describe Zean with words alone. She was an experience of love, freedom, and compassion—a presence you could feel when you were with her. She saw the best in people and loved them as they were.

Zean will be remembered for her generosity, honesty, warmth, strength, and the way she made people feel heard and cared for. Her love lives on through her children, grandchildren, family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known her.

We invite all who knew Zean to her Celebration of Life held on September 28th, 2026 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the McColl Pond ELC located at 13550 Dakota Ave S, Savage, MN 55378.
