Steven Hoogenakker

Steven David Hoogenakker December 28, 1959 – September 9, 2026

Steven David Hoogenakker, 66, passed away on September 9, 2026. He was born and raised in Mound, Minnesota, and later raised his family in Independence, Minnesota.

Steve was a natural jokester who had a gift for making those around him laugh. He’ll be remembered for his resonant love of music and the way he played guitar. He enjoyed spending time cooking, being on the lake, and cheering on the Vikings.

He was an entrepreneur at heart, starting out in lawn care and snow removal and expanding into a dozen other fields. Work gave his life meaning, and he was a gifted and enthusiastic manager throughout his career.

Steve was preceded in death by his wife and the love of his life, Teri (Aluni); his parents, David and Jean (Maitland) Hoogenakker; and his mother-in-law, Alice (Prisk) Aluni.

He is survived by his children, Paul, Kirsten, and Gerrit; step-mother Sandy Hoogenakker, and father-in-law Donald Aluni, who will carry forward his love for them.
