Michael Raymond Korus

Michael Raymond Korus was born to Susan Korus Preston on December 2, 1983, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Michael was known by many people in different circles, and because he was compassionate, funny, loving, creative, and incredibly talented, he affected the life of each, powerfully.

Michael loved sports. He played football, baseball, and basketball at Champlin High School, where his friends affectionately called him “The Rug.” But more than sports, Michael loved music. He sang with the Metropolitan Boys Choir from 1994 to 1996, and his love of music became a part of his very soul.

Michael taught himself to play guitar and began writing his own music. He was a member of several music groups, including OUTLET and IN THE DAY. His daughter, Kinsley, was a great source of inspiration for much of his music and creativity.

Michael also had a strong faith in Jesus. That faith was built through surrender, trials, and many opportunities to both be encouraged and encourage others. His time at Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge, as well as his time in River Falls, brought opportunities that helped change his heart and his life.

Diabetes became an increasingly significant part of Michael’s life and ultimately took his life on September 15, 2026.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Dick; his grandparents, Ray and Dorothy Korus and Steve and Sandra Dick; and his uncle, Tom Korus.

Michael will be deeply missed by his daughter, Kinsley Korus; his mother and stepfather, Susan and David Preston; his stepmother, Kim Dick; his siblings, Chris Preston, Derrian Dick, and Reagan Dick; and his many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

A Celebration of Michael’s Life is planned for Sunday, September 27, 2026, beginning at 2:00 PM at:
