Minneapolis, Minnesota
We are heartbroken to announce the peaceful passing of Mary Taylor, on May 13th, 2026, after a short and difficult battle with cancer that she bore with extraordinary grace.
Born Mary Conway on February 29, 1956, in Austin, MN, she was an outsider artist whose drawings, paintings, and prints captivate, but defy easy understanding. Her love for the natural world defined her life, and she dedicated herself to caring for animals, plants, and the environment.
Mary was a woman of deep Christian faith. She received Holy Communion a few days before her passing, rejoicing in her certainty that she would soon be with her Lord.
Mary leaves behind her brothers Dave, Mike, Bill, Mark, and John Conway; along with their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Nellie Conway, and her husband, Tom Taylor.
Also bereft are Mary's many friends in Minneapolis.
She will be remembered for her tireless work to restore five acres of woods near Cedar Lake; her love of dogs, cats, birds, and wild animals; and her commitment to a vegan lifestyle.
We invite all who knew Mary to share memories and upload photos to her memorial page.
Mary used to say, " You know what June is?"
