Glenwood, Minnesota
Hey guys! Kurt Peterson here, but you can call me 'The Painter'. If you're reading this, it means I've embarked on my final adventure. Born in Buffalo, MN on 08/16/1959, I then found my forever home in Glenwood, Minnesota. I've had quite the ride, filled with love, laughter, and a lot of paint.
I was a man of many talents, if I do say so myself. I was an artist, a water skier, a downhill skier, an entrepreneur, an upholsterer, and a pilot among many other things. In fact, it'd be easier to list the things I wasn't! I owned my own business that was a few different things throughout the years but most recently I ran a little shop called Sumo-X, where I spent my days creating custom motorcycle parts. It was there that I became a leader in designing the fat tire kits for the motorcycle industry. Not to toot my own horn, but I was pretty well-recognized and revered for my work in the biker community. It was my work, but more importantly, it was my passion. I was lucky enough to pick up quite a few awards along the way, and even got a shoutout in RoadBike magazine (still one of my personal highlights). I also loved being part of the Facebook groups dedicated to my craft. It was a community that I was proud to be a part of.
What mattered most to me, you ask? Well, that's easy. I loved my shop, my hobbies, teaching, and above all, my family. Speaking of family, let me tell you about the amazing group I've left behind. There's my loving wife, Teri, who's been by my side since we were teenagers. My three daughters Shanna, Cassie (and Josh, of course), and Hailee are incredibly successful and I could not be prouder. I'm also leaving behind my parents, Elder and Deloris Peterson, my sister, Kay, and my niece, Allison. On the wife's side, I leave behind my mother-in-law, Pat, sister-in-law, Sheri, and my nephews, Jonathon and Jeff. And let's not forget my spirited grandchildren, Miles, Alex, Sydney, Tayte, and Abby. They have brought so much joy to my life. I know they'll continue to make me proud.
As I embark on this new journey, keep me in your hearts and minds. Of note, I had made the decision to be an organ donor. Turns out I did have some good parts left that could go to somebody who needs it! Share your favorite stories, post those ridiculous photos, and remember me as the ambitious, creative, loving, and adventurous man that I was. And always remember, life is too short to do something you don't love. Until we meet again, "The Painter."
Please share your memories and upload photos of our time together on my memorial page. It would mean the world to me and my family.
