Kraig Steven Olson, born on the 26th of August 1968 in Fridley, MN, has sadly left us on the 17th of May, 2026. He will be remembered as a friendly and gregarious soul, who loved to be the life of the party. His sense of humor and resilience remain with those he left behind, as well as his avid love of music, guitar, comic books, science fiction, fantasy, and martial arts. Kraig also found solace in the natural beauty of the woods and lakes of Minnesota as a hunter and fisherman since his youth, and in the companionship of his dog and best buddy, Poncho.
Kraig lived a rich and varied life having resided in Blaine, MN; Tempe, AZ; Grand Rapids, MN; and St. Cloud, MN. After graduating Blaine High School in 1987, Kraig joined the U.S. Army, serving until 1993. During his time in Germany, Kraig was a personal witness to the fall of the Berlin Wall, being stationed in the city at the time, sharing stories of elation and drinks with the people from East Berlin as they streamed into the West. Throughout his life, Kraig carried that spirit of liberation to everyone he spoke with, and ultimately it will be his fierce independence that defines his memory.
Kraig is survived by his brother Kevin (Pamela) Olson; sister, Kimberly Olson; and his niece and nephews, Sabrina (Zack Labyad), Isaiah, and Noah Olson. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, DeWayne and Madaline Olson; brother, Keith Olson; and his beloved dog, Poncho.
As we remember Kraig, we invite you to share your memories and photos on Kraig's memorial page. Kraig was a part of many lives, and anything you can share helps us to celebrate his life and carry his memory forward. We are thankful for the time we had with Kraig and he will be deeply missed.
