Gary Splett of Rockford, MN, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Gary was born to John and Marguerite “Peggy” Splett of Crystal. He graduated from Armstrong High School and went on to vocational school, where he studied cabinetmaking.
Gary spent his life working in construction, where he was able to put his creativity, talent, and incredible craftsmanship to work. He had a special gift for taking an idea and turning it into something beautiful and lasting. If Gary could dream it, he could build it.
He also had a deep love for the outdoors. Fishing, walking, and finding treasures along the way were some of his favorite pastimes. Animals, especially dogs, held a very special place in his heart. Many would say Gary was a true dog whisperer—he never seemed to have a dog that misbehaved.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, John Splett.
Gary is survived by his daughter, Emily (Sam) Stucker, and grandchildren, Hayden and Nico; his mother, Marguerite “Peggy” Splett; his beloved partner of 15+ years, Annette Fredrickson; his beloved dog, Dozer. He is also survived by his brothers, Ron (Judy) Splett and Bill (Rene) Splett; sister, Lori (Jeff) Detloff; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless others who were fortunate enough to know him.
Gary will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His quiet strength, generous heart, incredible craftsmanship, and the countless things he built will be remembered and cherished for years to come.
A private celebration of Gary’s life will be held with family and close friends.
