St. Cloud, Minnesota

D’arcy Melvin Villneauve (Vastag), 54, passed away August 28, 2026, at his home in St. Cloud, MN.

D’arcy was born September 18, 1971, in Minot, ND to Paulette Vastag (Villneauve). She later met Clayton Fredrickson, who became a father to D’arcy. He graduated from Sawyer High School in 1990 and shared fond memories of participating in football, basketball and track during his time there.

After graduation, D’arcy served four years in the United States Marine Corps as an 0311 Rifleman. During his service he earned the Good Conduct Medal and qualified as a Rifle Expert, among other honors. Following his honorable discharge, he began his career as a union carpenter and moved to Grand Forks, ND.

D’arcy met his wife, Christi, in 1999 and they later moved to St. Cloud, MN to build their life together, marrying on August 17th, 2007. After a work accident changed the course of his career, D’arcy became a stay-at-home dad while completing his HVAC education at St. Cloud Technical College. He treasured that time with his children and was deeply involved in their lives, coaching football and basketball and sharing his love of sports and the outdoors with them.

In 2014, D’arcy joined Spee-Dee Delivery, working his way through the ranks to become the Director of Facilities and Security. He took great pride in his work, accomplishments and his ability to persevere through challenging times.

D’arcy loved camping, fishing, kayaking, playing pool, watching basketball, football and racing, walking his dogs and spending time with people he loved. Always the life of the party, he will be remembered for his humor, quick wit, distinctive giggle, subjecting us to his DJ skills with a playlist ranging from ‘80s hair bands and ‘80s-’90s hip-hop/rap to 60s-’70s country, and of course, his questionable dance skills.

D’arcy is survived by his wife, Christina Villneauve (Johnsen); his children, Hunter Johnsen (Paige Bierschbach), Jordan Johnsen, and Alysia Johnsen (Jae Knutson), all of St. Cloud, MN; his brother, Clint Vastag (Krista Gertken) of Richmond, MN; his sister, Deana (Mark) Hager of Bismarck, ND; his father, Clayton Fredrickson of Minot, ND; his nieces, Danielle, Ashton, Grayson, Bailey, and Carley; his nephews, Raven, Hudson, Archie, and Louie; his dogs, Jax and Jinx; and his granddogs, Queenie, Sophie, Lilo, and Beans.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Paulette Poitra (Villneauve); his sister, Carletta Vastag; his grandparents; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and his beloved dog, Keeva.
