Barbara Wassel

Barbara "Barb" M. Wassel, age 84 of Morrill, passed away Tuesday, September1, 2026 at Milaca Elim Meadows Health Care Center, Milaca, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am, Saturday, September 12, 2026 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Morrill with a visitation at 9:30 am at St. Joseph's prior to the funeral and burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery south of Ramey Store. A Celebration of Life and gathering of friends and family will follow at the Morrill Hall in Morrill.
Barbara "Barb" Marie Wassel was born September 29, 1941 in St. Cloud to Herman and Vera (Wittwer) Hamers. She graduated from Foley High School. She Married Gerald "Jerry" Wassel on November 26, 1959 at St. Elizabeth's in Brennyville. Barb and Jerry owned the Grub and Pub in Ramey for 10 years and they then moved to Milaca and she cleaned homes for many years. Barb will be missed by many friends and family. Barb loved gardening and had the most beautiful flowers every year. She liked watching softball games at the Grub and enjoyed reading in her spare time. She also loved to cook and watch her grandkids grow up. She enjoyed living in Morrill the last 6 years with her daughter and son-in-law and her faithful buddy Blitz.
She is survived by children Cheryl (Bryan) Leason, Morrill and Steven Wassel, St. Cloud; grandchildren Derek (Chelsea) Meehl, Tyler (Brittney) Meehl, Jordan Meehl, Marshall Meehl, Jackie (Brad) Orton and Justin (fiance Jazmine) Leason; siblings Joanne (Ralph) Galarneault, David (Lila) Hamers, Sharon (Paul) Beaudry, Al (Barb) Hamers, Chris (Jack Thilquist) Rajkowski, sister-in-law Judy Hamers and 12 beautiful great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 60 years Gerald; brothers and sisters Jim, John, Charlie, Shirley Crowe, Mary Jurek and Kathy Hamers.
